The event:   The Australian Masters Games is held every two years and were first held in Tasmania in 1987.  Competitors must be over 30 years of age to enter most events.  Visit their website for further information.

Riley's Ride (30 March to 3 April 2009))

The trail:  Preceding the Man From Snow River Festival (see below), this 5 day ride follows the footsteps of the Man From Snowy River.     The annual ride is held to commemorate Jack Riley's life, and the part he played in the early days of this district, and also to laud the efforts of those who selflessly sought to rescue him under harsh and trying conditions.  Jack is reputed to be "The Man from Snowy River" as immortalized in Banjo Paterson's epic ballad.  Riley's Ride was instigated in 1989.  The ride offers spectacular views and the chance to meet people from far and wide, who may come from many different walks of life but share a love of the Australian bush and deep respect for the pioneering families of the area.  It is a challenging ride and character building experience. 
Facilities for you:  own camping arrangements - tent, swag etc, camping gear, eating utensils etc
Facilities for your horse:  own horse gear including hobbles, rug, nosebag, buckets, electric fence etc

The event:  This Festival is a celebration of the pioneering spirit which still lives "by Kosciusko's side" in the mountains of the Upper Murray district. It's a great weekend for the whole family to enjoy.  This weekend includes the Country Wide Challenge which is one of the ultimate tests of all round horsemanship skills in Australia.  Go along horseless to watch the fun - or take the Challenge by entering your horse!

Riding of the Bounds (tba 2009)

The trail:  The Riding of the Bounds is part of a 550-year-long celebration which involves local residents riding on horseback around the Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough in a traditional ceremony to protect its borders.
This 15 kilometre journey starts at Akoonah Park, and rides around Berwick and Upper Beaconsfield, then finishes back at Akoonah Park.  Riders inspect the boundaries of the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire during the ride.

The trail:  This ride starts at the Toongabbie & District Riders Club grounds at 8.00am and heads up through the back of Toongabbie to Mt Lookout.  After a morning tea break, it is onto Brunton's Bridge for lunch and photo shoot by the Traralgon Camera Club.  After lunch it is onto Happy Go Lucky where you can get dressed into period costume for the ride up the main street of Walhalla.
